BAMBOOZLE - BRIDGE THE GAP,
JUNE 11th-22nd 2007,

Plans for a trail of linked events so far include
- Proposed construction of a free standing, temporary bridge using giant bamboos, to connect the two sides of Porthleven harbour entrance - the idea of Bridging the Gap made visually exciting.

- Basketry masterclasses / Bamboo construction workshops and public demonstrations by professional makers; including bamboo weaving from Japan, bamboo construction from Columbia and India, split chestnut work from Spain and U.K., split cane work from the Mediterranean and split willow crab pots from Porthleven. Courses will run either side of the main weekend.
- Site specific pageantry, processions and cameo performances around the harbour.
- Bamboozle Spettacolo - finale of illuminated bamboo and willow structures floating in the sea, created for the event by various groups within the local community, school children and visitors to the Fair.
- A bamboo orchestra performance using musical instruments made of bamboo in schools and community groups.
- Exhibitions of both traditional and contemporary work.
- Marquees / temporary shelters to be erected for demonstrations of basketry skills and sculptural weaving. Also to provide venues for preparatory workshops and performance events before and during the Fair.
- A number of small trade marquees and stalls for individuals and organisations to showcase and sell their work.
- Organisations and individuals with similar aims to BASKETRY AND BEYOND will present a variety of related projects.
